For more information: edinburghagroecology@gmail.com

The members of Edinburgh Agroecology Coop would like to invite you to a community discussion regarding the community gardens and allotments  on Lauriston Farm. Some of our local advisors will also join.

At the meeting, we will give an overview of the plan for the whole site and then a specific presentation on the current plan for the allotments. There will then be plenty of time to hear your ideas, concerns and for you to ask any questions. We are very keen to hear from as many people as possible, especially residents of Lauriston Farm Road. We will bring print outs of the specific layout for the allotments.

Allotment/Community Garden Plan

The current plans are for a phased mixed allotment/community organic garden model. Initially there will only be 10-15 plots (planned to be ready for Spring 2022), all of which would be given to local community organisations/groups rather than individuals – this could include schools.

There will be communal secure sheds for tool storage (¬1 shed per 20 plots) and no structures over 1 metre will be permitted on any of the plots. There will be a communal compost area. These all will be situated in the area closest to the entrance at Toby’s and will be out of sight of Lauriston Farm Road.

Subsequent plot allocations will be decided by a committee consisting of people using the initial plots and will include a set of criteria for prioritisation -  including priority for those with no/limited access to gardens/growing spaces.

We would love feedback on our plans with suggestions for how to improve the plans.

If any of you cannot make it on 14th November, but would like to know more or to share your thoughts, then please do not hesitate to get in touch via the email at the top of this page.
