Flourish Garden Volunteering

Join us to help develop our new therapeutic garden. We’re excited to share that we are bringing people together to develop the Flourish Garden around a pond which was dug out last year, but is yet to be filled or planted. The space will also include seating, raised beds, medicinal herbs, arts and crafts plants rich in fibre and pigment, and sensory planting. The Flourish Garden will be for ongoing wellbeing support, especially for people facing barriers to accessing green space, including those experiencing poor mental health, and social isolation.
It’s a two-hour session, starting at 1pm, finishing with tea and biscuits. Please sign up here to join us: https://volunteersignup.org/PRLYJ
Newcomers and beginners are always welcome. You don’t need any specific knowledge or skills to help with the Flourish Garden.
Activities on offer will include pond development, planting and propagating, path building, willow weaving, deadhedging, raised bed building.
We’ve got outdoor work kit you can borrow, plus gloves, and we supply all the tools. Just bring yourself.
Accessibility Notes
The garden is within the Community Garden & Allotments. It is uneven, grassy ground, which can get muddy. There are no stairs. People have accessed it in robust wheelchairs and mobility scooters. If you use a stick or frame, and you feel okay on rough ground, the whole area should be accessible. The tasks are physical tasks, but no heavy lifting. Please share what you are comfortable doing – we don’t want anyone to go beyond their limits, and we can find a task that works for you.
As ever, if you have any questions about these sessions, you can contact us
