Harvesting Grains – Volunteering Sessions (AM & PM)

This year’s grain harvest is going to be Lauriston’s biggest so far (well, the biggest since we took on the land – we believe there were big wheat fields here many decades ago). We have 2100 square metres of Granton Rouge D’Ecosse to harvest as well as the same amount of a Hebridean landrace of Oats and Rye and several smaller trial plots.
We also don’t yet have any of the machinery that larger farms would usually use to harvest and thresh their grain! So we need to go back to the old ways and depend on our community of many hands to help us get in the grains!!!!
The dates could change as we will need to confirm the crops are ready, and we need the right weather. But please sign up if you are available, and we’ll email with any updates:
