Did you know there are over 270 species of bees in the UK, with only one being the Honey Bee? Join us at the Community Allotments to explore the captivating world of these vital pollinators and discover how they contribute to growing your fruit and vegetables. Learn about our bee banks and bee hotels, which Bumblebees have the longest tongues, and which plants attract different species. We’ll take a delightful tour of the allotment garden and help you identify various bee species.
We’ll also delve into the enchanting lives of butterflies and moths on the farm. Often overlooked, moths are crucial pollinators and a vital food source for our insectivorous birds and bats. If the weather is kind, we’ll even have some live moths to showcase.
Join our specialist volunteers, David Notton and Huw Pennell, for a fun and educational session you won’t want to miss! All are welcome. Free, no booking needed.
