Soil Life!

Join us for a hands-on practical exploration of soil. We’ll begin by taking soils samples from Lauriston Farm, then:
- examine its role in groundwater and surface water protection via water filtration tests
- experience soil as an ancient pigment, turning it into watercolour paint rich in colours, texture and scent
- take a closer looker look at what’s going on through the microscope
- walk the allotments to explore soil health in relation to plant succession
This event is for ages 16+ and the group will be small, so you can get really involved in the activities. The ticket price is subsidised, thanks to funding from Plant Health Centre Scotland. There is also a solidarity option for those who can offer it and a discount for those who need it. We can also offer free places if needed. Join us to bring the soil to life in your mind and eyes!
