BBC Food & Farming Awards Update
We joined the other finalists in Glasgow on Monday 2nd December for the award ceremony…
We were surprised and touched to be finalists for the BBC Scotland Local Food Hero Award at the 2024 Food & Farming Awards – one of three projects, amongst many nominees. We want to say a big congratulations to our friends the Cosaig Growers (growing for their community in Glenelg, West Highlands) who scooped the prize chopping board on Monday evening in Glasgow, and hat tip to fellow finalists in our category: the Stranraer Oyster Festival.
Four of us (Lisa, Rocky, Emma & Kate) cleaned our boots and went to the award ceremony to represent the farm. It was really good to see the other awards also going to regenerative farmers, community-based solutions to food poverty and food waste, and responsible, innovative food producers from across the UK, and we heard about all the finalists’ projects. Like us, nobody else there was doing what they do for the awards! But it was great to celebrate projects that are being the change we want to see in food and farming, and share our stories. Another food system is possible!
If you didn’t catch it, the farm was featured on Episode 24 of Landward (available on iPlayer) and also on the Radio Scotland show Out of Doors on 30th November (available on BBC Sounds). And listen out for more about the awards on upcoming Radio 4 Food Programme shows.
