History of Lauriston Farm – can you help?

Do you know anything about the history of farming practices at Lauriston Farm? We would love your help…

Is there anyone out there who is interested in historical research? We would be very interested in any references to historic farming practices at Lauriston Farm including crops and where they were grown on the farm, grazing animals, pigs and chickens, changes in field boundaries, ponds and wetlands, historic buildings and any other written records covering farm staff and biodiversity. The City of Edinburgh Atlas is a useful resource for historic maps and aerial coverage:

The earliest map featured on the Atlas is from the 1850s and this indicates some boundary changes but no major differences to the farm lay out with the exception of new roads to the South, East and North and the disappearance of what looks like Lauriston Cottage.

Historic Environment Scotland have an account most of which focuses on Lauriston Castle but which also refers to the wider landscape context:

If there are any archivists or researchers out there who would be interested in delving into the historic records please get in touch. We would love to hear from you.
