Landworkers’ Alliance Manifesto in Scotland
Creating a better food and land-use system for everyone – we share the Landworkers’ Alliance manifesto…
As members of the Landworkers’ Alliance, we wanted to highlight their manifesto for Scotland which came out in May this year.
The Landworkers’ Alliance is a great organisation: a union of farmers, growers, foresters and land-based workers, focused on creating a better food and land-use system for everyone. Agroecology provides the framework for what they do, it’s also the framework which we will work with at Lauriston Farm.
The manifesto for Scotland includes 8 important calls for the Scottish Government and its public agencies. Some of these are of particular relevance to the work we will do at Lauriston, including a call to value local food and land-based workers, make food sovereignty and food justice a reality, support agroecological farming, create local food economies, boost local seed production, provide education and training and create diversity in agriculture and land-based employment.
The manifesto is well worth a read in its entirety. Click here download a PDF of the Landworkers’ Alliance Manifesto for Scotland
