New Mural in the Community Entrance

New mural in the farmyard, designed and painted by north Edinburgh young people…

A photo of the painted portacabin in the entrance at Lauriston Farm, with images of seeds, vegetables and soil-dwelling organisms, and the word 'welcome' in large letters

The portacabin in the community entrance has had a glow up, with a fresh new mural and welcome sign, thanks to the Spartans ‘Art Offenders’ and artist Natasha Russell. Natasha and the young people at Spartans Community Foundation did such a great job creating a seed-themed piece, which grew out of two design sessions at Spartans. Participants also came to the farm for a painting session with Natasha, and she put the finishing touches to it over the last couple of weeks. It’s now finished and cheering up the entrance way to the farm.

Come and see!

If you haven’t been before, this just through the gate behind the Toby Carvery car park, post code EH4 5EX. Click here for details and directions to visiting the farm.

We are working on a series of improvements to make this a safe, welcoming, multi-purpose area for farm and community activities – with the community allotments, community orchard and wildflower hill just beyond the portacabins, and beyond that, the walking routes around the rest of the farm.

This mural project was funded by Plant Health Centre Scotland, who are working with us on a year-long project to develop plant health and biosecurity resources for the community. We’d like to say a huge thank you to them, to Natasha, to Spartans Community Foundation, and to the young mural artists for your time, work and creativity. We love the mural!
