Progress update on the earthen building

Brilliant work from Edinburgh Tool Library and community volunteers…

A group work on adding clay to the lower half of the building

Brilliant progress on the earthen building thanks to Edinburgh Tool Library and the community of volunteers. We’ve had at least 50 people at the workshops so far, with the next (fully booked) one coming up tomorrow on Tuesday 12th September. The Edinburgh Tool Library and the ever-handy Sam have been amazing to work with and ensured we have a quality frame and roof in place. And at last Saturday’s workshop, we got stuck in to the earthen walls – clarty hands and smiling faces all round.

Places are now open for the workshops on Monday 18th and Saturday 23rd September, where we’ll be aiming to finish some of the walls and incorporate some features. We’ll make the kitchen bright and colourful for future users by adding windows made from coloured bottles. If you’d like to join us, click here to register on Volunteer Signup

We feel enormous gratitude to everyone who has participated so far, and to everyone who voted to fund this through the Edinburgh Community Climate Fund. This is a real community effort to create a community resource.
