Learn how Lauriston Castle’s farm land was given to the city, and what we’re doing to turn it into a resource for the community. Toni explains the tree and hedgerow planting, Rob and Jossie explain the food growing and the Community Supported Agriculture Scheme, and the essential work of the volunteers and the allotments are featured, along with the plans for the Highland cows, farm starts, and financing.
As Rob says in the programme, we’re building this community farm:
“…for people to share the space, share the opportunity that we’ve got, to learn to grow their own food, to eat that food together, to share the whole thing, and for us to grow crops that we can then sell to people in the rest of North Edinburgh… It’s about giving this part of the city a sovereign food supply.”
